CARING FOR SILK
For longevity use a detergent specifically designed for silk fabric
Hand wash is the best way to clean your silk product so that it lasts a long time.
Detergents designed for use on silk fabric contain no bleach or optical brighteners which will damage silk fabric.
To wash:
By Hand - Fill a clean bowel or sink with lukewarm water and add non-bio silk detergent (check the label to ensure it is made for using on silk fabric, you may use other detergents if you so wish, but silk detergent will be gentle on the fabric which will help your fabric last you for a long time) leave it for 20 minutes remember to gently swirl the water around a few times to help the soap cleanse the silk efficiently.
By Machine -
Rinse well and gently squeeze out excess water, but do not wring the fabric.
To dry: Air dry out of direct sunlight.
To Iron: Place a towel or cotton sheet over the top of your silk fabric item and iron on a low setting, or if you have a silk setting gently test it out on a small part before steaming in and ironing the whole surface of silk.
It is best to iron on the reverse of your fabric.
